The treatment plan consists of six rounds of chemotherapy with carboplatin, Taxotere, and pembrolizumab every three weeks. Then a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. If the surgery clears all cancer, I’ll continue immunotherapy for up to a year. If not, more chemo awaits.
It’s a lot. A lot of appointments. A lot of canceled plans. My husband and I have been snowbirds in Florida for the past three years, but not this year. Life is on pause again.
Here’s the thing. I’m not giving up. My first battle taught me that attitude matters. Back then, my motto was “Let’s getter done.” This time, I’ve upgraded it.
When life gives you lemons, you make pink lemonade.
It’s not easy. It’s not fair. But I’m okay. I will get through this. We will fight again. We will make the best of it. This is just a bump in the road. I’m already looking forward to the day we’re back in Florida, soaking up the sunshine, cancer-free once again.
